A World Premiere and a Chile Premiere

Patagonia Rising starts reaching out to the Americas this May. First, with a World Premiere at the Newport Beach Film Festival at 5:30 PM on Sunday May 1. For more information and tickets please visit the festival website: http://newportbeach.slated.com/2011/films/patagoniarising_brianlilla_newportbeach2011
If you live in the area please come out for the show. If you know people in the area please send them information and encourage them to attend. Director Brian Lilla will be there. It’s going to be an exciting event.
And just one week later, in the southern hemisphere, Patagonia Rising (Patagonia Se Levanta in Spanish) makes its Chile premiere at the Third Annual Festival de Cine de la Patagonia Aysén in Coyhaique May 6-9: http://www.patagoniavisual.cl/index.php
This is the capital city of the region where we shot the film and a perfect venue for the Chile premiere. Field producer Fernanda Bozzolo will be there. Jonathan Leidich – field producer, logistics genius, and our link to this story and the people of the Baker River – will hopefully be driving up from the Baker River to Coyhaique in order to attend.
These screenings hold great relevance as the environmental regulatory agencies in Chile are on the brink of either approving or rejecting the HidroAysén environmental impact statement. Coyhaique and Newport Beach will be launching pads for our film to spread across Chile, the Americas, and the world. Patagonia Rising can influence the debate in Chile over this controversial proposal and inform people around the globe wrestling with large dam proposals.
Please tell your friends and family and make it to either of these screenings if you can.
